How to Maintain Your Safelink Wireless Account
Once you have a Safelink Wireless account, you are now a customer of the oldest and largest of the companies providing free government sponsored phones. We hope you are enjoying the service. Now we are going to help you get the most out of your service with the company. We will tell you what to do if you have a problem and we’ll also tell you how you how to keep your service.
The Safelink Verify
One of the most important changes that have come to all of the Lifeline plan companies is the need to verify or re-certify that each customer continues to be eligible to own a free phone and receive free minutes. Since it was discovered that many people were keeping their service long after they were eligible, this change will cut down on a lot of the waste that has plagued the program.
What this means for you is that you must re-certify once a year to keep your Safe link phone. Failure to re-certify will result in your service being canceled.
How to complete the Safelink Wireless Re-certification
You may complete the Safelink verify in one of two ways.
You may complete the re-rectification by going on the company’s website. There is a link on their homepage where you can click to start the process. You will need your enrollment number and the last 4 digits of your social security number to begin. If you have misplaced or no longer have your enrollment number then you will need your zip code and date of birth, along with your social security number to begin.
You may call the Safelink customer service number at 800-SAFELINK (723-3546) to re-certify your service.

I didn’t receive my Safelink minutes!
Make sure that your phone is on when you are due to receive your minutes, to avoid any delays in getting your monthly time. If you don’t receive your monthly minutes, there is no need to call the company. You can just follow the following instructions:
- Press Menu
- When you see ‘Prepaid’ click press OK or Select
- Go to ‘Redeem Airtime’ or ‘Add Airtime’ and press OK or Select
- Go down and press OK until you see ‘Card #’ or ‘Airtime PIN’
- Enter 555 and press OK
- Press No if you are asked for a promo code
After this, your minutes should be credited after a few minutes.
The Tracfone Double Minute Card
If you want to buy minutes for your phone, you may purchase Tracfone cards. As covered on our Safelink Wireless page, Safelink Wireless customers get a minute bonus when purchasing a Tracfone minute card. So if a Safelink customer buys 60 minutes of Tracfone credit, the Safelink customer actually receives 200 minutes.
Tracfone also sells a Double Minute Card for $19.95 which awards double minutes for the life of the phone used. What does this mean for Safelink customers? Well, you get even more minutes! If you buy and use a Double Minute card, then refill your Safelink phone using a 60, 90 or 120 minute Tracfone card, you get double the amount of minutes you’ve purchased plus the normal Safelink bonus.
In other words, if you have purchased a 60 minute card, you will get 60 minutes , plus the normal bonus of 140 minutes AND an additional 60 minutes due to the double minute card, for a total of 260 minutes. This bonus only applies to the 60, 90 and 120 minute cards
It is important to remember that the double minute benefit is non-transferable even if your phone is lost, stolen or damaged.
Safelink Wireless Referral Program
Many people want to know “how can I get more free Safelink minutes on my cell phone?”.
Fortunately, one answer is simple; do you know someone who needs a Safelink Wireless phone? Many of the Lifeline phone providers have referral plans. For example, an existing customer has a friend or family member (not living in the same household) that needs a phone and then refers him or her to their phone company.
The Safelink Wireless referral program allows customers who refer successful applicants to the company will receive 100 bonus minutes. The new customer will receive 30 minutes. There is no limit to the amount of customers that can be referred, so the more people you refer, the more minutes you can get. The minutes are only paid upon a successful referral (i.e. when the applicant is approved for a free phone).
To get the minutes, the referrer number must be filled out correctly on the application as Safelink will not give retro-active credit.
