Safelink Wireless Maryland

Safelink Wireless offers free service to the residents of Maryland. If you qualify, you may receive a free phone and free monthly minutes from the largest and oldest provider of free government cell phones in America. Eligibility Requirements

There are TWO ways of qualifying for a Safelink Wireless Phone in Maryland. You only need to qualify under one way to be eligible for a free phone.

Participation in a Governmental Assistance Program

You may qualify for a free Safelink phone in Maryland if you participate in any of the following assistance programs:

  • Electric Universal Service Program
  • Maryland Energy Assistance Program
  • Medical Assistance (Medicaid)
  • Public Assistance to Adults
  • Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
  • Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Food Stamps
  • Temporary Cash Assistance
  • Temporary Disability Assistance Program

Due to changes in the Lifeline Assistance Program, Safelink now requires proof of participation in a qualifying program.

Income-Based Eligibility

You may qualify for a Safelink phone in Maryland if your household income is less than 135% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines. If your income falls below the level in the chart below, it s likely you are eligible for free service from Safelink.
